Dead Sea Minerals
The Dead Sea, also called the Salt Sea, is a salt lake bordered by Jordan and Israel.
The Dead Sea is 304m deep, the deepest hypersaline lake in the world, and contains some 45,000 million tonnes of salts rich in minerals, also known as - The Dead Sea Minerals. As the concentrated saline is said to be a cure for a number of health conditions, it is a popular tourist destination.
The Dead Sea is landlocked and in the lowest valley on earth. All the minerals of the surrounding countryside get washed into one pool, which in turn gets baked by the sun. This concentrates the salts so much that the Dead Sea is 10 times more salty than the Mediterranean Sea.
The Dead Sea contains 21 minerals including Sodium, Magnesium, Calcium, Bromine, Bitumen, Zinc, Iodine and Potassium. Twelve of the Dead Sea Minerals are found in no other sea or ocean and some are recognised for giving a relaxed feeling, nourishing the skin, activating the circulatory systems and for easing rheumatic discomfort and metabolic orders.
